Scotland’s Wild Medicine – A Foraging Day with Clare Holohan | 28 June | 29 June 2025

Ever since picking up a copy of Scotland’s Wild Medicine, we have wanted to host ‘A Foraging Day with Clare Holohan’, medicinal herbalist from West Highland Herbal. Following two successful years with enthusiastic learners in 2023 and 2024, Clare is returning to The Lint Mill to lead two 1-day events in 2025.

Each day will involve a foraging walk around The Lint Mill in the morning where there is plenty to find, identify and learn about from yarrow to wild mint to woundwort.

In the afternoon Clare will lead us through the preparation of something culinary or medicinal from our wild finds for you to take away.

The dates are tbc but we are taking advanced notes of interest as this event books up quickly. The cost is £95 and includes The Lint Mill’s customary hospitality with a delicious organic lunch inspired by foraged ingredients.

This day would also make a great gift for the nature lovers in your life.

Here is Clare telling us a little about herself…

I’m Clare, West Highland Herbal is my business. I live in Lochaline on the remote Morvern peninsula in the West Highlands of Scotland. I moved here from Glasgow nearly 15 years ago.

I’m a medical herbalist and work mostly online, or offer face to face appointments in Lochaline or monthly in Fort William. I don’t specialise in any area of medicine preferring variety and diversity in all aspects of my work. I’m a member of the National Institute of Medical Herbalists and the Association of Foragers. I try to grow, forage and make as much of my own medicine as possible.

Before qualifying as a herbalist in 2011 I trained as a chef and still have a deep passion for food, especially real food, out of the Earth. Healthy, delicious, nutritious and nourishing food, and I absolutely love feeding people! My passion is nourishing people on many levels so that they can go out into the world the best version of themselves.

I’ve been leading herb walks, teaching foraging and herbal medicine courses for about 13 years and run occasional retreats focussing on wellbeing, wild medicine and connection with nature. I’ve also worked with a few private businesses, including some distilleries over the years.

Last year I published my first book Scotland’s Wild medicine with @heal_scotland . It’s been so successful we are currently looking at a reprint.

I run a smallholding where I grow medicinal herbs, food and raise livestock (at the moment goats, sheep, chickens, ducks, quail and two jack russell terriers) naturally.

If this was not possible, or unacceptable to you, then we would refund all monies paid by you. Our liability would not extend beyond this refund. Due to our small business, we reserve the right to make a full charge for cancellations made within 14 days of the course date. This charge will only apply if we are unable to sell your place on the course.
