27/28/29 May 2022 | Writing Course with poet Alicia Stubbersfield

Surprise yourself on this intensive weekend writing course when we will immerse ourselves in The Lint Mill’s inspirational landscape, spending time awakening our senses and paying real attention to the natural world. There will be writing exercises to help initiate your ideas and examples of writing to draw upon so that no-one need fear the blank page. Alicia will use her extensive experience as an Arvon tutor and senior lecturer in Creative Writing to support you as you write and there will be an opportunity for everyone to have a tutorial with her. It doesn’t matter how much or how little you have done before, by the end of this weekend you will take away several ideas for either poetry or prose and at least one finished piece you’ll feel proud of writing.

Tutor Alicia Stubbersfield

Alicia Stubbersfield is an established poet and highly experienced tutor. The Yellow Table is Alicia’s fourth collection, described by Andrew McMillan as a ‘book that cuts the crap, cuts the pretension and is smart enough to wear its learning lightly.’ Alicia lives in Cheltenham, was an English teacher in comprehensive schools, then tutored Creative Writing for The Open College of the Arts, Aberystwyth University, Liverpool John Moores University and, most recently, for Cheltenham Festivals, the Arvon Teachers as Writers project and the University of Gloucestershire.

Cost

The fee for the weekend is £295 and covers all tuition and full catering with Colin’s amazing food grown on our organic smallholding (we can accommodate all dietary needs so please inform us at the point of booking). This is a non-residential retreat.
