Filling Hayracks

Every year I like to fill the hayracks outside the stables with flowers. The hot reds of geranium and verbena with the firey orange of the calibrachoa and the beautifully aromatic trailing Indian mint really cheer the stables up right through the summer.

It’s flowers I’m concentrating on right now so that the garden is in full bloom over the summer and there are plenty for cutting. I’m filling as many pots as I can lay my hands on from around the garden and I’m planting up sunny patches of the walled garden with cosmos, zinnia, calendula and tagetes, which should give me buckets full of colourful, cut flowers right through until autumn.
